AXA Advisors

Ilyas Akbar

Welcome to my web site.

As a financial professional for AXA Advisors, LLC, I assist individuals and businesses in the development and implementation of strategies to help meet their long-term financial objectives.

I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Accounting at Syracuse University and hold a professional designation as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).*  Prior to joining AXA Advisors I was in public accounting with KPMG LLP.

My educational background, and professional experience has driven me to use a systematic approach in working with my clients to determine their financial goals and investment objectives. The next step is to create a strategy to address these goals and objectives. Then as a registered representative of AXA Advisors, LLC, I will recommend the appropriate products and services to execute the strategy. My goal is to empower my clients with the information they require to make sound financial decisions.

In my spare time I like to travel, exercise, and spend time with my family. In addition I mentor two high school students, and serve on the advisory board of the Empowered Mentee Family, a not-for-profit organization.

Take a moment to browse through some of the features of my web site, which includes helpful financial calculators and newsletters on a variety of topics.

Thank you for visiting my web site and I look forward to working with you in the near future.

*I do not provide accountancy services in my role as a financial professional with AXA Advisors.

HOT TOPIC: Breaking Down the Debt-Ceiling Compromise

The Budget Control Act of 2011 raised the federal debt ceiling, mandated modest but significant caps on discretionary spending over the next ten years, and left the details of larger deficit reduction to a 12 member, bipartisan “super committee.” The main provisions of the law include the assumption that higher tax rates will return in 2013.

Earning Income from Mutual Funds

More than half of working Americans are concerned that they may not have enough money to live comfortably during retirement. Although mutual funds are often thought of as a tool to build savings, they can also be used to generate income. This article examines the potential income benefits of bond funds, equity or stock income funds, and hybrid funds.

Insurance for Two Could Benefit Your Heirs

Survivorship life insurance offers a way to help a couple's heirs pay estate taxes, probate costs, and other final expenses — and could be especially important after 2012 when the federal estate tax is scheduled to be significantly higher. Even if the estate tax doesn't apply to an estate, the insurance proceeds could benefit heirs or a favorite charity.
